With the exception of a small handful of songs it is easily my least favorite Beatle Era, but no way I’m not paying for Disney in November! And who knows, maybe this will change my view.

If you're wavering on the cost issue, right now until Sunday you can sign up for Disney Plus for two bucks for a month.

There is a short film with journalist John Harris on the Guardian website about this - as he keeps saying he edited the tie-in book.

Re: Get Back
I saw a facebook meme where it pointed out they chose to record "One After 909" rather than any of George's All Things Must Pass songs he had at the time.
Never thought of it that way.

Just started watching this. Great so far! The footage is crystal clear. It could have been shot yesterday.

Yeah, don’t want to rush into these things. Do your own research!

Re: Get Back
Can’t say this reaction is unexpected. https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2021/nov/25/the-beatles-get-back-review-peter-jackson-eight-hours-of-tv-so-aimless-it-threatens-your-sanity?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
But the moments of inspiration and interest are marooned amid acres of desultory chit-chat (“aimless rambling”, as Lennon rightly puts it) and repetition. There is a point, about five hours in, when the prospect of hearing another ramshackle version of Don’t Let Me Down becomes an active threat to the viewer’s sanity. That is doubtless what recording an album is like, but for an onlooker it is – to use the language of 1969 – a real drag. Much opprobrium has been cast at Yoko Ono for her constant presence at Beatles’ recording sessions, but, after this, you marvel at her fortitude for sitting through them.

Watched the first episode today, loved it, its not perfect and 2.5 hours in one go might be a little tough, i split into 3 sessions.

Re: Get Back
We watched about half of the first episode tonight. It's funny, it's about what you would have expected. Paul is in charge, John is out of it - barely contributing, George has issues with Paul. and Ringo is Ringo. I did marvel at how they were all focused and contributing during certain sections though. I would have assumed that it was John and Paul doing all of the work, but they're all sitting around facing each other trading off ideas like a proper band.

Great review - for once I'll hope for a truncated version.

Re: Get Back
I have watched the first part now.
The scenes where they work on Let it be and get back are amazing.
There are just so many people chipping in.
George Martin pops in a couple of times - presumably he is really thinking "just write some bleedin' hits".
But overall it seems a normal work environment. All the tensions seem minor so
SPOILER ALERT
It is a bit of a surprise when George walks out.
