Re: Benefit 50th anniversary reissue
Despite being a massive fan, and having most of the others, I won't bother.
I know I will only play it once.
I didn't like the Steven Wilson mix last time around - some of the necessary murkiness had gone - Inside etc) - which was a shame and the live tracks Dharma/Kind Permission I can do without
I'll pass

Re: Benefit 50th anniversary reissue
Like some others I’ve given up buying these extended sets, knowing that I might only listen to the extras once, if that, however if it was going for a tenner I might be tempted.
Lovely album though.

It's the same 5.1 mix as last time, but there is a new live show with a 5.1 mix.

Indeed plus the video of the Tanglewood show on DVD. Some of the original Wilson remix box sets are hard to find now, the Warchild set for instance is impossible to find.

Got 'em all. You can find them on Discogs for silly money, of course.

The previous Wilson sets are selling for £160+ on eBay.

The completed / sold filters on eBay.co.uk certainly showed Minstrel and Songs From The Wood recently sold at £160 approximately.
Maybe the lesser albums aren’t sold out. Or people are assuming they are and they’re not sold out.

Re: Benefit 50th anniversary reissue
Enjoying this a lot, very interesting reading the book. Ian played a lot of electric alongside Martin, and only Martin seems to rate the album at all.
Live stuff all sounds great, the Tanglewood video is great but quality is a bit ropey, but sounds great. They start off with a hiss and a roar with Nothing is Easy complete with a stage invader shouting "Revolution!", great stuff, but its straight into the solos, of which only Johns really stands out. If they had just ripped thru the songs, a lot of which apparently didn't translate well to being live (tho I really don't see why), it would have been amazing, the band sounds fantastic together, Glenn a real standout.

Re: Benefit 50th anniversary reissue
It would be nice to have it in the same format as the others (I have 10 - all except Stand Up and Aqualung), but it's far from my favourite Jathro album, so I probably won't bother.

Not surprising from the Taylor Swift fan

Re: Benefit 50th anniversary reissue
The only reason a "Minstrel" Box could go at 235 pounds is that it's a very limited edition, or something like that. It's certainly not a very good album. Stands out like a sore thumb between War Child and Passion Play. I wouldn't mind having a PP box set. Is there one?

Sure is, it goes for about $300 US on eBay.

Re: Benefit 50th anniversary reissue
I'd rather hear Minstrel than War Child any day.
