Hello everyone! Happy Hackett Day!

Tuesday, really.

Anyhow, Good Evening. To absent friends.

Very Genesissy.

Our Steve providing ample evidence that he kept the 1970-76 flame alive while his former bandmates strategized to dominate the pop charts.

Always expect Hackett albums to be genteel, restrained affairs, a rock version of smooth jazz - and instrumental.

Every Day was not that, a very good opener.

Genesis were a blind spot of mine back in the day, still have much to explore!

Hackett's immersion in that trad-Genesis sound very evident here. Although he pointed out he wanted to add flute and vocal diversity to the post-Gabriel recordings and was not encouraged.

Yes - and I'm enjoying the flute? whistle? - sounds a bit Japanese.

Now sounding very Japanese/Chinese. Presume the touch in The Virgin and the Gypsy was part of the sequencing.

Into 'Clocks' - a longtime favourite, harking back to the sound of his first solo album The Voyage Of The Acolyte.
