Book Cover Suggestions

Postby RcL » 03 May 2009, 20:59

I've been busy editing an anthology of British and Irish poetry which is due out next Spring. It's quite a big deal - 'the poets of this generation' sort of thing, with 85 poets and a big marketing push planned. It will be called Identity Parade (with an explanatory subtitle).

I'm looking for BCB's artier posters to suggest possible artists / images for the cover. We have had several ideas so far, but nothing that wholly pleases both the publisher and myself. The image should loosely reflect the title - perhaps in a sideways sense - striking images of 'multiplicity' are one thing we are after - repeated images or many varieties of one thing reflected / depicted in an image or photo.

Any suggestions welcome.

What you don't want is a 'Usual Suspects' type picture with Wordsworth, Oscar Wilde, John Betjeman, WB Years et al. in a criminal line up.

...actually that's exactly what you DO want - how much you paying?

Shakespeare marching down the High Street banging a drum with Lord Byron driving a float behind that has a load of Pre-Raphaelite poets on the back waving at the crowd.

Chaucer with a quill in one hand and an iPod in the other, winking into the camera like a cover of i-D magazine.
