Barry White fans needed for BBC tribute documentary

Postby GemmaBBC » 12 Sep 2003, 15:43

Hi
The BBC are doing a tribute documentary for Barry White and we are looking for British couples who have an affinity with Barry and his music. Did you meet through his music? Were your children conceived to his music! Are you that child? If you have an interesting story (any memorabilia would be fantastic too) and would like to be interviewed about it and included in the documentary now's your chance to pay tribute to the great man himself. Please contact me on [email protected], I would love to hear from you.
Thanks
Gemma

How did the BBC find out about us? I thought this was a secret society.

Sorry. Q's fault. She popped up there first and we didn't believe she's BBC 'cos she won't give out an official BBC address, so we sent her to mojo. I imagine Plax has scared her off there...

I was directed to you by someone on the Mojo site who thought that someone on this forum might be able to help.

I didn't realise it was a private site, sorry.

blimey, looks like i'm being passed around! I definately have a BBC email but we're advised not to give it out on forums because of spam but don't worry I am genuine! Either that or very very bored to go around all these forums for no reason!

It's not private at all, just that not many know about it yet!

Is it true you have people trawling internet sites and forums like this, looking for BBC type questions? You know, someone says on a forum 'Can anyone tell me who played third Cyberman in Dr Who vs the Sheds of Doom?' and one of the BBC lot pops up and says 'Yes, it was Ewar Woowar'.

If so, how do I get such a job?

Well you have come to the right place if you want stories about music but I can't recall reading a post from a Barry White fan here. Hey guys what about Goldwax is this his bag? He's off on Paternity leave (we offer full pay for the first week).

If you've posted here and Mojo I would have thought someone will be able to help. In the meantime it might be worth your while bookmarking both sites as there are a lot of people here with a lot of pointless information and experiences.

BTW have you seen my building thread about the BBC's Restoration series. Where would you lot be if people like me didn't plug, BBC?, no one would of heard of you were it not for threads like that. :D

Well, yeah. Mrs Neverknows is totally nuts about Barry White. And the first thing about me that attracted her is the fact that I really look like him.

Like this?

Wouldn't a 'Talking Heads' board be more suitable for this?

A person from the BBC looking for actual fans of a musician rather than just getting a couple of idiot celebs to say a few insincere words as they really don't know anything about the subject at all? You just wouldn't make it in North America.

I'll have to stay in Manchester then! Such a shame cos I was looking forward to the 5 star luxury and free gourmet meals you have been promising me the BBC will provide! Thanks for the advice and I'll keep an eye on the thread!

That's as maybe, but we (ITV) have a programme to make.

It's probably going out at the same time as the BBC one.

Can you help?

You can lie if you want

As a matter of fact I do have an anecdote that might interest you. My mum used to do for a posh woman in North Oxford. You know, charring. Well, anyway this woman was called Mrs Hayes and she swore blind she was the mother of boy triplets called Isaac, Gabby and Melvin but had them taken away from her because one of their fathers was black - very frowned upon in those unenlightened times. Apparently it was all hushed up and the boys went for adoption. Mum says that Isaac went to a couple in America (Tennessee maybe?) and Mrs Hayes lost touch after that. I'm not sure but it might be the same Isaac Hayes. It's a long shot, I know. Hope that helps.
