Bowie has been shit for decades. Mogwai haven't. Is my point. And I stand by it.

Quite right. Bowie has been shit for at least three decades and Mogwai were only formed in 1995 so they have only been shit for one and a bit decades so far. No contest.

Ever seen them, Pete? Or is it your usual case of talking bollocks about something you know nothing about?

I saw Bowie live a few years back. He was fucking embarrassing.

Ditto. Far be it from me to call Bowie's efforts of the last decade or so his most brilliant work, but his total output strikes me as much more impressive than Mogwai's records and live show ever did.

Good for you. It would be boring if we all liked the same thing. If only some other posters realised there wasn't a right and wrong answer, eh?

You should have seen the Glass Spider tour, now that was embarassing.

Surely everyone's entitled to his or her own opinion. But I find it really unfortunate that people seem to have dismissed Bowie based on a live show in his "old age". Can recording artists be forgiven for their latter-day sins?! Or for having snorted too much coke in their youth?

Of course they can, but none of that excuses the cringeworthy ego-fuelled excess that was the Glass Spider tour. You can't blame old age or youthful cocaine abuse for that one.

Actually, he was sober at the time of the "Glass Spider" tour and I am a worshiper, but will accede that it was a bit crap.

That whole mid 80s suckfest is poor - no one in their own right mind would deny that. It was Dave making some dough - having been fleeced rotten throughout the 70s. Can we really blame him for doing so??

Aaaah, so you're beginning to accept that he went shit after the 70s and therefore I am right. Good lad. I knew even a muppet like you couldn't remain that long for beyond just a couple of years. Apology accepted :D

It's OK Pete, we both know that Bowie's crap, but let's both pretend that you don't think so. Good lad ;)

I never like that Glass Spider era stuff but I know Bowie fans who remember those shows fondly. they feel like they got some bang for their bucks. who am I to tell them they didn't?
