i do so worship skating away, as i indicated earlier. the way that song builds, with the layering of diff instruments coming in, the pick up to crunch down the line... the way ian sings it, and especially the lyrics are just uber-groovy to all kaths. it really is in my top five tull tracks. one of those numbers i see as perfect, perfect tullishness.

good thing i possess nuthin even remotely resembling (a) a conscience; (b)a nigh-catholic sense of guilt; (c) the related willingness to carry that guilt when others try to festoon it upon me; (d) a less-than-thick skin; (e) special concern about my musical taste or lack thereof; and/or (e) any actual self-awareness at all.

i will try warchild again, at a date to be determined later. if i try again now, it won't work. too close. however, i would remind you that even though you voted for my cup list and therefore got drafted into the groovy kickass army of righteous awesomeness... and even though we both think lindsey buckingham is just one hell of a gweetarist... you, yes YOU, monsieur boom, have completely abandoned the mated album cover cause. i mean, not even one every few months or sumthin. one a season. zero. zippo. nada, you forsaking yet cover-talented bastard.

with that in mind, i refuse to approach warchild anuther time with as open a mind as possible if YOU do not make a cover. ya. ya ya. one cover. these be the terms of the trade.

Fair do's , its a deal and I shall begin work.

I look foward to your renewed thoughts on the Warchild long player which Im convinced, given time and a fresh appraisal will contain all the zeal of a fresh convert !

..Passion Play is next on the list ! ...

I made reference to this on the Prog Premiership - A 'various artists' compilation of Tull tracks - it's not my sort of thing but there are some nice interpretations and samples on the link below if you are not familiar

I recall LMG coughing it for me many years ago...

It hasn't been discussed so far.

Looking at the blurb it probably is excellent - partly because it includes the IoWight gig.

The periods covered will provide a great document to the genius of Jethro Tull

Indeed - worth a punt methinks

Yes, worth a punt

My learned friend Mr C's recent writings on the subject would suggest that the remixed version is an improvement. Perhaps if SW were let loose on those tapes he could make an even better job.

It looks like Martin played the marimba part (as well as guitar) when they did it live, while Barriemore played xylophone.

Look at that gurning fool ruining such a good song. The more you just listen to them and don't watch his attempts at entertaining, the better.

Can this be a case of too much of a good thing? I see the 3rd and 4th discs have over 40 tracks on each of them!

*materialises out of thin air*

Where did this thread come from? I haven't read it all, can't be arsed, but I've seen the posts on this page more or less. War Child. I don't know it, I've never listened to it or even heard it. However and nevertheless, I have heart Skating Away and the War Child track itself and I love them to pieces, especially the latter. I could write a chunky paragraph about it but I've been drinking. However, do believe it is one of my favourite songs in history. Do that.

Reasons all, both stated and unsaid, that have made me click the pre-order button at the first sight of the War Child reissue. If you think I don't make sense you're not reading right, I say. Do I feel guilty? Yes, but not because of this purchase, but because I went and failed miserably at acquiring the Aqualung box. Too fucking expensive. The experience was traumatic. For me.

But I've made my peace with myself by buying (by buying) the Thick As A Brick book thing that comes with shiny shiny discs. And what happened next, I hear you ask. Well, let me tell you. I am just about to tell you. I've been playing that thing every goddamn day. I said I was going to tell you and I wasn't lying, was I?

Reason added to those powerful previous ones for my buying War Child now. But I've never heard the album before. Will I like it? Yeah, I think as much. Not that much. I think so. That I will like it. Will I ever play A Passion Play? I don't have it. I don't have all the JEthros. Will I ever? Who cares. I'm happy with my Brick, Thick As it is. And with the others I have. Not all, though. Because I don't have all. I have heard the tribute CD. I liked the Wetton and the Hughes. To cRy You A Song. Have I been drinking? No, I haven't. I'm sleepy now.
