Re: PC 21- FINAL Match 5
Not dying to vote for either of these - the Squier is a bit long, though it has some nice passages. But I've been hearing for years what a wonderful album it is, better than several Yes albums, etc. It's fine but I'm still not hearing anything great or anything vital being expressed.
B is unavailable (alternate that works for me here).:
Sabbath, as I've said before, largely passed me by the first time, and while I've grown to appreciate them, I doubt I have it in me to ever be that much of a fan. It just doesn't hit me on that deep a level, though there's no denying their power. I guess it falls under 'Broad Church,' though the playing is pretty streamlined, so aside from the occasional wild guitar solo and maybe some tempo changes, you have to be pretty broad.
Anyway, more 'what I was expecting,' and less disappointing. Maybe the wonders of that Squire album will hit me someday. In the meantime, meh.

Re: PC 21- FINAL Match 5
A cracking final match with 2 tracks I love unreservedly and both contestants clearly playing a strong card for their final tie. One of the best solo Yes moments vs one of Sabbath's most proggy outings. So close this one but Sabbath sneaks it.

Normal service (to my old, stuck-in-the-mud cloth ears) has been resumed
Squire - a fantastic album and a brave choice - I would have gone for something safer from the said platter but what do I know - I didn't even make the semis!
Notwithstanding, a great track.
Then there's Sabbath - and in the prog final - good lad contestant!
[I can hear 'em now - 'but is this prog...?']
An awesome track
ooofness by the shedload!

A. I’ve owned this album since release. This isn’t the best track, but it’s pretty good.
B. I know little of Sabbath. This isn’t as bad as I expected it to be. But is this prog? *waves to C*

I think B is the best album Yes never made. Along with approximately 2,457, 832 others.
B. Of course.

A - just never got into the Chris solo stuff, this is okay.
B. not bad for a sabbath song sorry never got the groove of them. yeah yeah some orchestration and prog elements but that is what don't make it work, BS were better being themselves and prog wasn't in their cards.

B started beautifully and I was hoping for an instrumental, cos Ozzy gets on my tits.
A is the one memorable track on Squire's (otherwise underwhelming) solo album

Nice to hear the Sabbath track for the 1st time in decades - it’s in the loft!
I have never listened to the much revered Squire album, but that was really good!

Re: PC 21- FINAL Match 5
Fish is an album of moments and this track epitomizes that. It doesn't have the typical, seamless flow that makes so much of Yes interesting for me.
B is OK but doesn't really move me a lot. Symphonic and nice.

Two great track for sure but i'm looking for something a bit more imaginative in a prog cup final & i don't mean some modern derivative claptrap nonsense that is a chore to listen too.

I know, it’s been lauded on here many times but somehow I’ve never pushed the button.
I honestly can’t explain it with any conviction. I think I just have a weird suspicion of / aversion to solo albums by members of bands I love. I dunno, fear of let down maybe...?

Give it a go. It’s better than you might expect. Easily the best Yes solo album IMHO.
