A Never heard them before. Quite interesting.
B A safe choice from a fine album. I’ll go with

I got into a few 4AD label bands in the 80s but Dead Can Dance weren't one of them - I don't know why they made a good sound. Aussies I recall who used a range of world sounds as evident here.

That's it - the vocals - often Gregorian chants sometimes do not sit too comfortable with the juxtaposition of the other stuff going on

This is clever stuff but as The Slider would say 'too robust for me'

Then there is the wonderful Wishbone Ash with a great track from one of their best albums

*sniff*

Easy:

There's The Rub is the album that introduced me to the Ash and a personal favourite. Lady Jay is a great track with the trademark folky sound and great guitars as always. I quite like A but it's not got a chance here.

A (Dud Condensed, as I call them) is not and has never been my cuppa. In their own way, they've always seemed every bit as show-offy as the most egregious fretwankery. Grateful to at least be spared Brendan Perry (one of my least favorite voices ever). But that's about all I can say about in its favor. Sorry, picker - they're fine at what they do, it's just kryptonite to me.

B is nothing special, but again, making a pleasant noise is more than enough here.

Do Goths have a place in the Prog scene? I liked the Bowie, Scott Walker influenced vocals . The more interesting of the 2 tracks for me.

I love a bit of Dead Can Dance and their exotic sounds mixing Eastern European with Middle Eastern and African influences. This is a very atmospheric closing piece from their 4th album.

Anything by Wishbone Ash that is not from Argus has failed to impress me but this track was nice enough without knocking me out. Pleasant while it lasted but immediately forgettable after it ended.

Dead Can Jog On. Its all a bit too Cocteau for me. But with worse singing.
Wishbone Ash eh? I am lead to believe that this band are titans, if that is the case they should also be thrown into the cavity below Tartarus. Starts out a bit Neil Young then descends into some madrigal nightmare with a wig-out coda at the end which, frankly, if it comprised the entire song would be perfectly acceptable. It does not, and thus manages to be worse than A.

Wishbone Ash could do little more than tune their instruments and they would sound great. I'd vote for this track over most other things I've heard in this competition, but the DCD track is out of this world, supernaturally amazing.

Enjoyed both, but Dead Can Dance was more intriguing.

Never thought 4AD would make it into the Prog Cup (let alone twice in this round!). A is one of my favourite tracks of their third best album.
B is not their strongest offering but it is prog....

Oh well....

I like B but A is more interesting.
