The Breeders pick is a headscratcher, and SBG ironically (check title) overeggs its one riff, but the Everlys track is great. A is still inconsistent, but it hits more pleasure points for me than B by a country mile. B manages to become even more not my thing with the new stuff, including a solid contender for my least favorite Talking Heads song.

A is stronger both in its original picks and its additional three. B's okay but a bit outclassed here; its Gruff Rhys pick sums it up - a likeable track, but not very distinctive, it's not exactly going to make you jump up and shout 'wow'. Nice to hear The Everly's so unrestrained, this shows a different side to what you normally hear and the wildness of the Garner track was great.

A toughie. I preferred A's original tracks but don't like the additions; especially the Everly Brothers. On the other hand, I like all of B's additions, especially the Gruff Rhys. I really like that album.

I guess, looking at the lists as a whole, A scrapes it.
Bugger off.

It's one of their best tracks! Agree with you about 'This Must Be The Place', THO' - never liked that one.

The Everly's tune is great too.

B's outclassed here, I agree with the G fella. An easy

I liked A's original selection very much and the three additions are all strong with the funky 'Sugar' Billy Garner track standing out. The Everly Brothers track was a lot looser and rocking than what I'd expect from them and all the better for it.

B's first 8 blew a little hot and cold for me and it's the same story with the additional 3. The Gruff Rhys track was really good and I'd be keen to hear more. The Talking Heads track is fine too, not a personal favourite by them but still likeable. On the downside Mazzy Star didn't do anything for me.

I wasn't very excited by A first time around and I don't think it has improved much if at all. I love The Breeders but this tune lacks the spark that ignites their best stuff. Wasting My Time is pretty generic. And while I applaud the Everleys leaving in that false start - stuff like that is always fun - it rounds off a rather conservative trio of tunes.

List B is far more adventurous and just better altogether.
Gruff has a McCartneyish talent for writing tunes that seem to have always been around but are in fact shiny and new. Top notch pop music. Mazzy Star are underrated and this is the best of their most recent output. RIP David Roback. And the TH choice is just as whistful and charming as you'd want.

Voted for A the first time and the new songs don't do anything to change that. I like one song out of three for each (Breeders for A, Mazzy Star for B)

Voted for both of these before, Nothing setting me alight from the new 6 , though I do like the Talking Heads better than most. Billy Garner is a bit OTT and though I love the Everlys there are better tracks I would have picked. Ultimately A's highs (ZZ Hill, Sundays, Bristol) are just that bit hgher than B's (Sugar, Belly, Goldfrapp)

Talking Heads track is fine don't get the naysayers at all. Never understood the appeal of The Breeders, its ok but no more than that.

I like List B better this time around and like that it isn't pandering to general BCB tastes. However, blah Talking Heads pick means I can't go against a list that includes Ray Barretto.

B's insistence on putting the title before the artist in their list is a deal-breaker for my neurodivergent nature.
And A has a minor Everly Brothers song
In timeless moments we live forever

Negative Capability...when a man is capable of being in uncertainties, Mysteries, doubts, without any irritable reaching after fact & reason”

As we are voting for the song rather than the artist the song should take precedence. I'm ok either way as I don't let such daft things affect my vote :)

FWIW, I left the lists in the same submitted order as they came in, knowing there have been some (rather pointless) discussions about it in the past and for some people it makes a difference. Hadn't anticipated someone voting against a list for it though....

I think A's additional 3 are stronger than B (Breeders and the Everlys, nice) but overall I like the whole of B a bit more.

Ray doesn't care about the songs, he votes on whether he sees an artist he likes in the lists.

I'm quite intrigued about the list of artists he refuses to listen to/vote for actually....
