My last five were a bit dashed-off, although to be fair, if I'd seen the Major Lazer video, I probably wouldn't've picked it! I genuinely do really like the song, even if I acknowledge it does sort of fly in the face of everything representing good taste- even in the context of the record itself, which is mostly dancehall based- "Hold the Line" would've been a better pick from it in that context. Incidentally, this would've been my next five:

Buffalo Springfield- Burned
The Bats- Block of Wood
Gang Starr- Full Clip
The Dramatics- In the Rain
The Orb- Towers of Dub

That was the five I was going to pick!

Aww, tough break Matt. Yours was a terrific list. One of these years you're going to win the damn thing.

Sorry, TRGP - I knew it would be a close one. As you said, no shame; you had tough competition.

"In the Rain" - I LOVE that song. Big Dramatics fan here.

I keep thinking he will. I think he's lost to the one that is going to win it this year though.

Nah, his new music picks aren't really BCB's thing; they are too hip for that.

Oh, come on. Robyn? Sleigh Bells? Hip, how? Very much BCB's idea of "new" I'd say (and I voted for it).
It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.

That's 'hip' as in Pitchfork hip (I really didn't like the Sleigh Bells album but Robyn is ok) and most of the people who vote wouldn't know them anyway, I suspect, or be that interested in an artist like Robyn who's too 'pop' for BCB. Until TRGP changes that element of his lists I suspect he'll be a nearly man.
