Ah!

Doesn't sound that much different does it?

I loved all the rock n roll and doo wop revival stuff in the late 70s Darts, Rocky Sharpe and the Replays etc so I started looking up stuff like that a few years back.

You tube is such a great resource for that sort of thing. There is even footage of people like Leadbelly for goodness sake.

Like Martha, Garnett Mimms. For me, a great new discovery.

I've heard the Broken Bells album before... but I've now really taken to them with The Ghost Inside

Glad you like it! I like it a lot. But I'm increasingly of the opinion that James Mercer is a genuine genius - and the best songwriter of the last 10 years... Hence two efforts from him in my list :)

I'm not a big lyrics fan really, but his words for the Shins blow me away - they're fantastic as a rule.
I've been talking about writing a book - 25 years of TEFL - for a few years now. I've got it in me.

Isn't that rather giving the game away as no one else has chosen such toss in their lists?

It's funny that list has turned out to be your brothers as I thought it was yours initially!

Take another look...

Milt Matthews for me too. A great track.

I've always overlooked this group, but this is a pretty great track.

Rachel Unthank & The Winterset.
I see on Wiki they/she are now called The Unthanks. I'd like to explore them more

A great group, although I find a whole album pretty unrelenting.

I'd never heard this band before, either. I like it. Are their records worth investigating?

Is anybody else still discovering things?!

I doubt it CG! Quite a number stopped voting weeks ago and I get the impression many of those who are still voting just nip in here quickly and then get out again! It feels quite lonely still being left in the competition. :)
But good on you for still checking things out. This track was something I didn't take much notice of for the first few rounds of its appearance, but I'm realising what a really good track it is.

If you like that track, you'll most likely love the band. The album it is taken from is my favorite of theirs- Strange Geometry. Definitely worth checking out...
