Re: BCB Cup 2011 The final
This is tough. There are things I love about both lists. A seems to take a few more risks (Xennakis? Awesome!), but in terms of stuff I love, B has a slight edge.
I'll go with B, but won't hear a word against A.

Re: BCB Cup 2011 The final
A's a funny one! Great to hear Lux Aeterna again but not so keen on the Fennesz track or Metastasis but kudos for picking some uplifting 90's dance which is probably about the least BCB song on the list!
B's new five look a lot safer in comparison (ha!) but are more consistently enjoyable (no, really?) feauturing a great, underrated Bowie song and nifty picks from Silvinha and Bobbi Humphrey with the Elvis track sitting proudly in the middle. If I were to quickly pick the best on each list It would be close to these songs....

so, as much as it pains me to vote against a list that has the mighty Take A Chance (What? You haven't heard it?! Get a life mate) there's just a bit more on B for me to love so, thanks for the ride A, it's been emotional 'n' all but.....

But well done to the pair of you for great lists.

Re: BCB Cup 2011 The final
Well, both are marvellous lists and it's hard to vote against either. Both have songs I love dearly as well as great new discoveries - I really believe these are the two best lists (well, with the exception of my own and perhaps Rank Bajin's). Well done to everyone for voting for these.
However, I think that A is the one I like most. It's a bewildering and intoxicating mix of highbrow and lowbrow pleasures, finding beauty in commercial dance hits and austere modern classical. B also manages a mixture of obscurity and shiny pop, but goes out less on a limb than A. A keeps its approach going right to the end and continues to entertain and confound. And, as Goat Boy says, 'Take A Chance' is massive. Wow!

Easy.
Harmonia, Japan, Can, Kraftwerk, Steve Reich, Holger Czukay, Klaus Doldinger
A man after my own heart - I wonder who it can be...?
The lad's got good taste and most of the others are robust too...

Yes, two very worthy finalists. I'm amazed to see how they've developed and grown, having taken my eye off the competition for personal reasons. Pats on the back all round!
B for me, though.

Re: BCB Cup 2011 The final
Both lists make me pretty happy, and I could gladly have either as a playlist for a month. As with Hugh, it does spoil it a bit knowing whose each one is, but I probably would have abstained anyway, not having looked at any of the threads thus far. I just wanted to check and see what the last two standing were offering, and I must say, I'm pretty impressed.

A is peppered with great choices that I would never have expected to see in a final.
