According to Wikipedia it comes from the original play on which both films were based. As the first time the expression appeared in print was 1969 I have no idea how anyone knows which of the sources directly inspired it.

Only read just now about Freddy Trump. It's so much worse: Çhrist seems to be part of his last name. His mother was called Elizabeth Christ Trump (so not Elisabeth, so definitely not Jewish) which, unless I'm wrong, make The Donald's full name Donald Trump - Christ. How could we be so wrong?? I think Christ (pronounced krist) was Elizabeth's maiden name.

The Jesus & Mary Chain’s Jim Reid lives in Sidmouth, Devon.

My mother in law lives there - you might think it is a bit genteel for a hell raiser like Jim.

There is a very flash house on the hill overlooking town which is supposed to have a studio within. I was told years ago a Scot owned it. Jim Reid was the last person I’d have thought of.

I don’t know if it’s his mind you.

UPDATE: I spoke to the MIL last night and she told me she once went to a soiree at the studio house. She didn't remember the host but his wife was called Angela so I reckon my J&MC theory is caput. Seems like the retired star is from the '60s rather than the '80s.

She mentioned that the Stones (or a Stone) used the studio (allegedly).
