Texas Storms

Postby Mike Boom » 29 May 2024, 23:20

Just got our power back on this morning after a day and night without, tree branches and debris scattered all around the neighborhood, Thunder storms and 80mph winds, and more to come tomorrow by all accounts minus the high winds I hope.

But Climate change (or pollution as I prefer to call it) is of course a leftist conspiracy.

Glad you got your power back.

We recently had storms that weren't quite as bad, but seemed like random, mini tornadoes that ripped up some trees and definitely were way more powerful than anyone expected. And there seem to be warnings of dangerous hail storms every few weeks. Invariably, someone gets something crazy out of them. Thankfully, we haven't had that yet. And, a week or two ago, they had terrible storms in Houston that ripped up some downtown buildings pretty bad, broken window debris in the streets downtown from buildings that have seen some serious storms before. There were people out there without power for a few days as well. Which wouldn't be SUCH a big deal if it weren't legitimately hot already.

I've been living here all my life. I don't remember bonkers weather ever happening with this frequency until maybe the last five or ten years.

Hurricane season will be hilarious, no doubt!

We're lucky enough to own a home in what is currently a reasonably hot real estate market. I often wonder to myself how long this area will be a viable place to live, and when we should sell this place sooner than later to get something out of it. Then again, Phoenix is a massive city in an impossible climate and people are still moving there.

Any excuse to post this beauty.

Surely these storms are God warning Texans not to vote for Trump?

My Plano based relatives have suffered outages, but not day- long.
My wife is visiting them, and may be delayed leaving this weekend.

It sure has been crazy in the Houston area. But it's been like this for years! We're 16' above Spring Creek, but we had beach front property twice (in 5 weeks!) in 2016 and once in 2017 (during Harvey, of course). The pasture was like 10' under water. We had our horses in the back yard and on the patio. So this was not our first rodeo. What was (is?) different this time around, is the hail. We've had golf balls coming down, and I believe up North (Dallas, Lubbock) tennis balls. A week ago it was a 'feel like' temperature of 112 where I live. And I'm sure that it will be that way again a week from now, all the way until a hurricane heads our way, which seems almost inevitable this season.

Still, it's better than Pakistan over here, which is why Houston is still the fastest growing town in the USA (according to NPR, so it must be true).
There's a big difference between kneeling down and bending over

Glad you’re ok Mike!
Currently sat up in bed with a cup of tea watching what appears to be the end of time playing out in the sky. At least I’m not driving to Houston in it though, unlike my husband.
You come at the Queen, you best not miss.
