Wearing slippers at home
Ah, nothing like a quiet night in: milk tea, good music, riveting book, and a pair of warm slippers. Keeping your feet warm at home should not be underestimated. I know a guy who had poor circulation and he ended up having two toes hacked off, to save the foot. Not a pretty sight. Of course, you could keep your hard leather shoes on, but that's more a guest thing to do.
So you have to choose a pair of slippers to save your toes. Or at least a pair of wool ski socks.
Traditionally, the backless leather slipper is the number one choice, as such a slipper can double up as a good spanking instrument.
The Mao shoes have been popular at least since the 1970s, and are also known as "kung fu shoes".
Then there are the closed, plaid felt slippers, usually worn by grumpy old men, or Andy Capp on his night off.
The thong slipper is popular among the young, who have good circulation. They also think it's cool to be barefoot.
Finally, there are the really soft, fluffy slippers with bunny ears or something cute like that. Many people would not be caught dead in those, but still they sell.

This may be the greatest thread of all time.
All the same, I reject the tyranny of shoes and socks in all their insidious varieties.

It's getting on slipper season around these parts, but I still prefer to be barefoot around the house as much as possible.

Barefoot or thick woolen socks here. I haven't owned slippers in well over 20 years.

I do wear slippers in the winter when it’s cold but that is only a few months of the year. Usually I am barefoot as I am now. It’s 75F in the house at the moment so too warm to consider shoes.

When as a child we all got slippers
We would scream like giddy kippers.
I can’t quite place when that got old
(Or when I did, truth be told)

Re: Wearing slippers at home
Well slipper weather is quickly approaching.
I've got LL Bean sheepskin slippers. Don't wear them as much as I once did because I've got carpeting in my home(I need to tear it all up or move I realize now I hate carpeting). Otherwise on cold days I'm wearing wool comfy socks (screw the bunny I have moose ones).
By the way I hate sock season I'm barefoot or sockless from April to October.

Bare feet around the house is a dirty habit , and reprehensible. Yuk. I do wear slippers a lot, but recently have taken to wearing my Crocs around the house, as they are cooler than slippers, and lighter. In winter I wear thick socks with little gripper pads on. But really, bare feet. Euww.
You don't like me...do you?

Bare feet on tatami mats is okay, though, quite a nice feeling, and the footsoles don't get as dirty.

Anyone who walks around their home in bare or stockinged feet is just asking for trouble.

I hate having hot feet, so no slippers. I wear flip flops. I just got some new ones in the summer they have bottle openers in the soles. Possibly the most pointless innovation ever.
I've been talking about writing a book - 25 years of TEFL - for a few years now. I've got it in me.

Hey, let them come. I'll take them on, toe to toe. I am barefoot and fancy free!
(Though right now, it chilly so, I am wearing my thick wooly socks for the time being.)
