oh now minnie, be fair.

i'm sure matt is teaching his daughters that they have a rosy future as check-out chicks at walmart.

then again, maybe he's just in asshole double-down mode, when it would've been so easy... not to.

Maybe some mean female cashier crushed his strawberries today and he’s feeling a little “off.”

Bleeding hell!
He MEANS- that he has encountered retail assistants during the course of multiple transactions vis a vis aforementioned retail experiences and that, to his knowledge, these retail assistants were of the birth assigned male sex and that, in his opinion, these retail assistants were, exclusively, of the homosexual persuasion.
Right, MUDDY?

If I'm food shopping and my hands are free, and the person at the till is still cashing up, am I supposed to start packing my own bloody shopping away or not?

In general, I wouldn’t. I’m not good at it and when they dive into it or a bagger ends up coming to the rescue, I dislike the confusion and general messiness that ensues. It is my life’s work to avoid those scenarios.

When you get off a bus, does the driver expect you to say "Thank you!" or don't they?

I doubt the driver expects anything. I generally give them a “thanks,” but I really don’t know why. They have a union job and I’ve paid for the service, both with my taxes and the fare. I don’t owe them a “thanks” any more than they owe me any pleasantries. But it seems like the nice thing to do, given all the nonsense they see every day.

When am I supposed to eat the two half strawberries that you insist on putting on my breakfast plate? Are they some kind of palate cleanser or an early supper or what?

At the end. What a wonderful world it is where we get strawberry slivers with our breakfast. Give thanks to Jah.

Why would ANYONE choose to live somewhere with a HOA?

Because they’re uptight and don’t trust their neighbors not to be eccentric or free spirited in any way. I lived in a small house in Houston for about a year in a neighborhood that was well past its oil boom prime—off Jones and Fallbrook, or thereabouts. There were a lot of houses built like this in Houston back in the louche late 70s with atriums and wet bars. It was pretty run down now and mostly the home to various immigrants starting at the lower socioeconomic rungs, and public defenders making no money. And yet, they still enforced the HOA rules with vigilance, meaning that on a particular wet summer when the grass was almost never dry enough to mow, I got constant hectoring letters about my yard with illustrative photos of my inadequate edging. It was ludicrous. I have no idea how they had enough income to pay the officious meddlers who were constantly harassing me.

Most importantly: several weddings into my life here, I'll ask again: why don't Americans dance at weddings?

They do, you’ve just been to a preponderance of weddings attended by Texas German Lutherans, lapsed and otherwise.

They definitely don't expect it and most riders don't do it. I like to do it, and sometimes you can see that they appreciate it.

Not sure about that!
I let a little old lady go in front of me in the supermarket checkout yesterday and by the time she'd been through her bags and purse looking for 1 centimo coins and discount vouchers and whatnots, and discussed her ingrowing toenails and how her son doesn't visit often enough etc., etc., etc. I think the process had cost me my will to live.
Bugger off.
