Did I read that right, did the Angels cut Albert Pujols? One doesn't cut the great Albert Pujols and get away with it. Shame on the Angels. And then I read that the Dodgers are going to sign him. That would be a classy move. He shouldn't have his last at plate somewhere at a AAA farm team. Here's hoping for a grand slam in the 9th of game 7 of the world series to end his magnificent career.

I'll miss Rowdy and hope that he'll now get a chance to shine.

Rowdy Tellez traded to Brewers for Richards, Francis

https://www.bluebirdbanter.com/2021/7/6 ... rds-bowden

Ken Rosenthal and Shi Davidi both say that Rowdy Tellez has been traded to the Brewers for RHP Trevor Richards and RHP Bowden Francis.

We figured that Rowdy might not be long for the Jays when they picked up Cory Dickerson. The Brewers have made a little cottage industry of picking up former Blue Jays first basemen, with Smoak, Shaw, Thames, and Vogelbach getting a turn each with them.
If love could've saved you, you would've lived forever.

Watching the baseball All-Star Game and getting totally weepy at the tributes to Hank Aaron. What a great player and spokesman for the game. Wish I was there to stand and applaud.

Go National League!

One of the greatest Dodger games ever was played tonight, and the Dodgers prevailed.

It always comes down to Dodgers vs. Giants. Every year. Even when you think it won't.

My prediction: winner of this series will win the World Series (probably against the White Sox).

Agreed - great game. And there simply is nothing better than a walk-off homerun.
Either the Dodgers or Giants are likely to go to the World Series where Tampa Bay will prevail, I think.

I think the Astros have had the White Sox number this year. Of course, the post season is sort of a clean slate, but I definitely wouldn’t count Houston out, particularly against Chicago. But their pitching will obviously have to hold up if they want to go all the way.

White Sox over Astros

Braves over Brewers
Dodgers over Giants

White Sox over Red Sox
Dodgers over Braves

Dodgers over White Sox

REPEAT!!

...but I could always be wrong.

Baseball. Anything can happen.

I was supposed to be at the Astros game today but I hadn't realized it was a day game. I work Thursdays...
So watching it on TV. Going well so far. Stros up 3-0 in the top of the fourth. 'We' are pitching brilliantly so far.
The Rays are going to eat up Bosox in 4, I think.

With my team out I did watch the end of the Dodger game I love a tie game in the 9th. Was routing for the Dodgers only because of my hate of St Louis
My picks

Rays over Red Sox
Astros over White Sox (WS haven't been good second half)

Braves over Brewers (not sure but I'll go Braves)
Dodgers over Giants

Rays over Houston
Dodgers over Braves

Rays over Dodgers

With their apparently underrated, stacked, explosive offense, excellent speed, and sterling (also apparently underrated) defense, I expect the Astros to romp through the remaining teams they could play with ease, much to the consternation of most others.

Except for the good pitching beats good hitting truism and the fact that their pitching is very much a question mark over a seven game series, particularly in light of the questions about Lance McCullers and his early departure with arm issues yesterday. Oh well.

Word trickling out on Twitter that McCullers is likely out for the ALCS. A significant blow. Alas, part of the game.

That's pretty bad news about McCullers. I too had them as favourites over the Bosox but it's pretty much 50/50 now. But The Astros have home advantage which helps a lot. Could be a slugfest. Looking forward to it! First tonight's game though. Promises to be one for the ages.

Dave! I love you man - but the Giants! You were sat next to me on the bleacher at my first Giants game! And the sentiment attached to that - it’s Giants all the way for me!
You come at the Queen, you best not miss.

Great game last night but it's sad that it had to end with a blown call by the first base umpire. No way that the bat had passed the plate. Oh well, let's get ready for a Astros - Dodgers world series.

Would be wonderful if the Braves beat the Dodgers. They've been one of my favourite teams since the Maddux/Glavine/Smoltz years. I surrealistically watched David Justice's homer in game 6 of the world series in the crowded lobby of the Sari-Pacific hotel in Jakarta. I think I was the only one watching.

It’s interesting to see them do to Houston what Houston routinely does to everyone else (well, they don’t routinely hit multiple grand slams, but it wouldn’t surprise me). I knew the pitching would be bad, but I lived in hope that the bats would keep them in the games. Obviously, they aren’t, and the top of the order is really flailing. To make matters worse, they’re making errors, which is uncharacteristic and is leading to further punishment. Nothing would surprise me, so I’ll keep watching …

Barring a radical reversal of fortune, you’ve gotta figure they’re just trying to force another game in Houston.
