It never occurred to me to do until a year or two ago. But when I did, I generally found something interesting (usually someone commenting on a point I’d made earlier in a thread - but without having used the “quote” function).
So now I check from time to time.

Re: Do you look for yourself in the search engine?
It's part of my hourly routine. I don't really feel I exist unless someone's talking about me on BCB, and then I have to know exactly what was said as soon as possible. Last night at 3AM I got up to use the bathroom and since it had been a few hours since I had searched for my name, I decided to check.
Imagine my dismay when I realized that no one had said anything. I couldn't go back to sleep.

Bet the rest of your house did, as there was no more snoring.

You said almost exactly the same thing five years ago on the very first page of this thread, Matt Wilson*.

I know, I posted that, refreshed the page, and then realized there were four other pages to this thread and that I had already posted on it!
Oh well, I can't remember last week, you can't expect me to recall a joke I told years ago...

I don't look for my name - but I'm pretty fucking sure I know someone who does!
