I was all happy with myself, up to a couple of minutes ago.

I had a cup of yogourt with about 12 beautiful strawberries and a banana cut up on top of it. Miam. And healthy.

But now, I'm topping that off witha brownie topped with walnuts. Homemade, yes, but still..... Arghhhh.

Oh well, it's delish.

Did you make your own brownies? I’m jealous. I’m a really crap baker. I’d like to get better at it but it never seems to happen.

Sadly, I did make the brownies, but from a mix (I added milk chocolate chips and walnuts, but bowhere near from scratch.). I just got a hankering last night and since I live alone, well, I get the whole batch!!! The cat will have none of it! :D

I'm a so-so cook ini general. No good at all with red meat. OK with poultry. Anything else, I get by plenty well for my tastes. I hate resto food (I worked in a few in my younger days and was a bit turned off by what I saw in the kitchens, behind closed doors :( ).

Baking is quite another thing. I love it. I'm quite good at it actually, but I'm not very creative ini that sense. I follow recipes as close to the letter as I can and, having learned the particulars of my oven (which is a bit shit really), I usually acieve good results. I learned the importance of following directions when I tried to make croissants the first time, eons ago. Now that was a disaster!!

My favourite is zucchini bread with choccie chips, dried raisins and crushed walnuts. Wonderful stuff, versatile, and freezes really well.

I still have 9 brownies left, out of 16. At this rate, they'll have served their entire purpose by dinner time tomorrow.

How do you make the zucchini bread?
I make a pretty good banana bread, though even the raccoons won’t touch it.

:D :D

Banana bread is also excellent. I keep mashing up my overripe bananas, bag them and freeze them, only to throw them out after a couple of months. :x But I use an old recipe that I typed up about 30 years ago. Knowing me, I probably pilfered it from a library book.

Zucchini bread ==> I use the recipe here: https://www.simplyrecipes.com/recipes/zucchini_bread/. I adjust the cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg mix to my mood and what I'm adding to it in terms of chocolate chips and/or nuts, usually going a little heavier on the nutmeg and lighter on the cinnamon. I have never added the optional dried cranberries as I never have any on hand  .

One thing I have found useful though is not to use too much zucchini. It's great and good for you but too much makes the center far too moist and difficult to bake properly. Too bad. It's a little easier to cheat a bit on the upside if you bake as muffins instead of as a loaf.

Bon appetit.

I was supposed to be out with a pal for happy hour (s) but she couldn’t make it. I came out anyway and the things I don’t notice usually- like other people - are winding me up already. A lady with a year old toddler is berating the barmaid that they don’t have any mango juice. For her toddler. In a bar.

She has now summoned someone over to remove the lettuce garnish from her plate because she didn’t ask for it.

Sorry. Carry on.

Hmm, I had this argument with Yomp some years ago... Surely how awful (or otherwise) Twitter is depends - for the most part - on who you follow doesn't it?

No it depends on whether you read the Twitter threads.

Jam session tomorrow in the “Lava Room” aka my off site jam space. A friend. who moved to San Diego is here this weekend and he’s taking possession of a new banjo (the horrors!) just before the session so it will be a fun time getting the old band together. I’m ready to show my progress over the last few months including new songs I’ve learned.

True and since the Yomp discussions it has come to light that Facebook has algorithms to promote the most negative and divisive threads - I don't know if Twitter does this.

But yes, it is of course up to the individual whether they chose to engage or not.
