Congratulations!

What’s the book?

What did you see at the pictures?

A fabulous cat left this mortal coil in the early hours of this morning - a beautiful orange Persian belonging to Baron's mum. She was an absolute darling. Baron is taking the afternoon off to help build her grave in his mum's garden. God, she was fantastic. RIP, pusscat!

One of the old chaps I was involved with has taken a turn for the worse and will be leaving us very soon. Phone went today and I thought it would be that he had slipped away overnight. Alas another old guy, fantastic character had passed away. The first guy is still hanging. God speed to both, magnificent gents I was privileged to know.

i'm sorry for this, too.

reap managed to save eight cats in the great cat migration of 2002. they were left to starve by their owner. he had to start diggin graves in that red bama clay, like cement. he'd break his back out there.

after he died, by the time i moved back here, we had five left. so gavin took up the duties.

now we have only one left. she's at least 20, mind. spots. spotty. la gata spotta.

my son's best friend.

I rarely see robins with worms but for the third time this Spring, I was treated to the sight of a robin with a worm. As I opened my front door to continue watering the front garden this morning (the hose has a hole punched in it and the local garden center is closed for now), I spied a robin eating a worm on my front steps. So the early watering brings up the worms for the robins. :)

my sister just brought me back some red velvet cake slice from wherever she ate dinner. coconut-butter cream frosting.

... and i am fucquin dead. that's what i am. dead. slayed by this cake.

ya knowwww, if i happen to die while this board is still running, this is what i want: a perpetual thread of reallly bad pun jokes. i am serious. this is what i want.

second thing: everybody across the universe needs to order a piece of this cake. trust me on this. oooooof.

Red velvet cake is classic. A gf in college made one for my birthday one year. Delicious. Pastry is one cooking skill I don’t have. Fortunately Rebecca is highly skilled. Otherwise I would do without. Take that anyway you want.

I'll pass - rapidly. I won't eat factory cake or icing, whatever colour.

I bake a great walnut and banana loaf and an apple cake at home.

Nonsense to the aggressiveness, I've seen more aggression on the my little pony message board......I mean I was told.

i'm not a baker, either. reap made a chocolate cheesecake that was fantastic. chi chi still talks about it. mwhaha.

my ma was a baker. i remember when i first went back to school after attila was born. i started work on a phd. the future exhole was out to sea. finals time. i was taking four classes. all of em wanted 20-page papers. i was also teaching four. i had, oh, a hundred finals to grade, etc. the only time in my life i got a serious migraine.

so my ma offers to take care of 1-year-old attila for three weeks so i could get it all done.

apparently, all she did was bake him cookies. around the clock. he couldn't talk yet, but he could stand in front of her oven, smile and make graspy fingers at the magic cookie oven. when i came to pick him back up, he looked like a beach ball.

i made the mistake of sayin, "ma! look at him!"

my ma: "kathLEEN. we've had a wonderful time. leave us alone right NOW."

i shuddup.

p.s. photographic evidence of what he looked like when i picked him up. yep, they had a wonderful time.

Indeed. If anything, I would think that would be Peak Red Velvet Cake.

I don’t even like sweet things very much but I would stand and beg at the door of a New Orleans restaurant like a dog for some red velvet cake!
And coconut icing? Sheeeeeeey-at. Bring it on.

Yeah, I'm not into red velvet cake. I think my mom is, of course. But she would be.
All the same, if you handed me some from a place that a native goes to eat in New Orleans, I'd have it in a flash.
