Re: skope's new site
Allow me to clarify: I always thought anyone who registered in 2003 would be a doyen. So what is it, you must have registered on the first day, or what?

You have to have attended the first Jolly Up to be a doyen.

... which was in Spring 2002, no?
IIRC, my first JU was December 2002, at the King's Arms (where Geisha Girl wanted to peddle some vinyl and no-one showed any interest).
That would have been the third, I believe.

How can this be? The board wasn't set up until 2003

Mojo board innit.
I've been talking about writing a book - 25 years of TEFL - for a few years now. I've got it in me.

Yup.
When the doyens first convened, we were still knee-deep in glib compression and shit.

Chris (Plaxico) is indeed an absolute fucking star. I met him twice in Florida and a nicer, funnier, informed guy you couldn't wish to meet.
And T Berry was a legend - a wonderful guy.

Sad patterns upon her face,
She waits for you.
So low below a laser sun,
Through velvet fields she runs,
Reaching for you.

Adam was terrific when he visited us in NYC... we couldn't figure out what all the fuss was about... mind you I haven't seen him in well over a decade, but he was alright.

As the Slider, you and I have all said, he's a nice guy in the flesh; he just gets a bit needy when he's online and his method of getting attention is to be as offensive as he can to as many people as he can.
It can be funny for a while but it gets a bit tiresome.
He's loving this thread.

I think most of you ignore his humility. He is trying to generate music threads.

I don't get the connection.
It seems fair to say we may be ignoring the fact that he's trying to generate music threads but what's that got to do with humility?
I generally like his taste in music and I appreciated threads he started on here and on Preludin. If he just stuck to that and toned down the 'Me Me Me and Fuck You' stuff he'd be a great asset to any music board.

He has become more humble over the last few years.
There are many threads on music at the moment, you could pop over and comment. You can be a member of more than one club you know.

Ha! I don't even have time to be a member of this club. But thanks for the invitation.
Do you really think he's become more humble? I guess you'd know better than me, but what I've seen on Preludin and his new place didn't give me that impression. Still, as I say, you'd know better than me.

I am denied access to the site now, and I haven't even posted anything, let alone registered! Not that I had any intention of doing so.

I had one too, once.
