The difference being John - you didn't leave Pooh. Pooh had got tired and needed to leave you. No abandonment, no admonishment of responsibility, no moving on and growing up - Pooh had a yawn and said he had to get going. And you had a hug and said goodbye as off he trotted.
He knows you never let him down.
He knows you never let him down.
You come at the Queen, you best not miss.

My Bosco is starting the long decline and it isn't nice to watch.
Jesus - that was a short decline.
Mercifully so.

The mangy cur is now chewing on some other shoes.
Curious how Bosco took on the sort of persona that was far larger than his actual size. I don't know how many times I've thought of him in the past few years in spite of only ever meeting his sweet soft self once in real life. We have several tiny portraits of him around the house, done by the Hots, so he's never been far away.
Sorry about the pain, J & S, but as you know it will lighten and sweeten in time.
See ya later, Bosco.

I was eating Strawberry. Hello.

I am so sorry, John and Sam. I loved hearing all the wee stories about him - it did make him like our virtual pet.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss John and Sam. It's tough losing a close companion like that. It sounds like you did the humane thing and a very brave thing too. I know that had to be hard. He'll live on in pictures and memories.

I am so sorry to hear about your doggie. You definitely did the right thing; sounds like the poor little guy was suffering greatly. I hope Bosco & Greta can hang out and be friends. xo

Same here.
Go easy, Bosco, mate.
John & Sam, you're very much in my thoughts.
I'd give you both a big hug if I was there.
A sad day.

I'm here in the flat by myself, and it's very strange, especially as round about now is "bedtime walky" time. I keep looking round for him, which I know is daft.
It's not daft. Big hug.

Not at all. We still keep thinking we hear the little jingle of Greta's collar tag. She used to always run downstairs to greet us, and we didn't realize how instinctively we'd gotten used to it.
For such little things, they leave a pretty big hole. It'll take some time, but that's probably just as well.

Indeed.
Thanks all. Your messages of support help to lighten my very very heavy heart.
I just got home from work for the first time to not find him curled up asleep at the foot of the bed.

It's not daft at all. Whenever I get home from work, I still expect to see Greta bounding down the stairs to greet us (our other cat, Jack, can either take us or leave us when it comes to that. )

I remember not long after we lost our Maltese terrier, I was sitting at the table in the family room doing something there, had the back door open cos it was a fairly hot day, and from somewhere down the street a dog barked. And it sounded EXACTLY like ours had done. My blood froze, believe me.
We lost Fluffy nearly 15 years ago and I still miss her. Indeed, her absence has only become more palpable in recent months.

God, this is so sad. I loved Bosco the minute I set eyes on him and I'll never forget how he kept staring at me because I was sitting on his couch. A great and strong personality in such a cute and small dog.
I'm truly sorry for you, John and Sam. I know how much Bosco means to you.

Re: Hello, I must be going
Thanks again, everyone.
I know he was sort of a mascot to the BCBers as a whole and like Sonny and Agnes, sort of belonged to all of us.
I just got home from a walk in the park and found a huge envelope on my doorstep.
I opened it up and just burst into tears.
Those lovely people the Yomp family had mailed me this beautiful watercolour that Mrs The Bear painted.
I will have it framed and hung in pride of place here. It truly is the most precious and thoughtful gift anyone has ever given me.
I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
