I can only echo what everyone else has said.
Even when you know the end has to be coming, it somehow doesn't make it any easier to accept when it does.

Re: RIP GATER
54 is no age to go. He seemed like such a sweet man. I too would like to play anything from the CD that I may have in his memory.
My thoughts go out to Holly and the rest of the family.

My condolences to Holly and Robert's family.
This weekend I'll dig out some of the music Gater sent me and give it a spin in his memory.
Rest in Peace Robert.
What Mr K said.
Rob was an unfailingly generous man who sent me piles and piles of music - often unsolicited too.
His enormous enthusiasm for the stuff he liked was totally infectious. He even got me listening to Tom bloody Petty for chrissakes. And enjoying it, no less.
One of the more memorable compilations he sent me was his reflection on the terrible events of 9/11. It wasn't angry or bitter, it was just incredibly sad and I could feel every little bit of his hurt from playing that disc. I guess there is a common language amongst the BCB folk, even when we have different dialects.
I shall miss you, Rob. You were a good man.
My deepest condolences to Holly - thank you for taking the time to tell us what happened to your dad.

Re: RIP GATER
I just read. RIP, sir. May you be at peace.
I never knew you but would have liked to.
I got a weekend off coming and would like to play some music in his memory.
Can anyone post a few pointers. I'd really appreciate it, thanks.
PS: Chin up, Holly. That was a brave post.

Judging by the two CDs he sent me, I reckon if you stick The Weight on and sing all the harmonies yourself, he'll probably hear you.

Oh this is horrible news.
I'm so sorry, Holly and my sincerest condolences also to Rob's other family members and friends.
He was what seems to me a gentleman and a gentle man and I shall miss his enthusiasm and generosity.
Bye bye, Rob and rest easy.

Re: RIP GATER
Like many others I suspect, I was looking forward to the day when Gater came back on the board. Can't believe that's never going to happen now. All we're left with is memories of one of the real good guys and a true BCB stalwart over the years. Rest easy friend.
Thanks to Holly for taking the time to share this sad news with us.
