Re: Goodbye.........
Although you don't know me i wish to express my condolences as well. The loss of a loved one is a terrible thing to have to bear. Hopefully you will not have to face it alone. It looks as though you have solid support here. Stay postive and celebrate your father's life. I'll bet he would have wanted it that way. I'm sorry.
Oh boy is it getting rough, when my old world charm isn't quite enough.

Re: Goodbye.........
So sorry to hear this, man. Focus on all the great things about him and repeat them often -- it's the least we can do for those who gave us so much. Take care, Matt.

Re: Goodbye.........
Thanks for all the kind words & pm's guys. I've been trying to keep busy today, taking the kids to the park, going round the shops etc.
I've been trying to keep their routine as normal as possible. Trying to keep myself busy. I guess that'll be the pattern of the next few days. But inside I've been quivering.
Dad was 76, Diabetic, Ashmatic and had had several minor heart/angina attacks. His health had been failing for several years, after his last heart attack, in February, he had expressed a desire not to be recusitated in the event of a future attack. We've kind of expected this for six months, I'm not sure it makes it easier to deal with.
My Mother was diagnosed with sever depression, for which she was hospitalised. He brought me up singlehandedly until he remarried in 1974. He was a star. I could write a book. One day I might.
It hasn't been helped by the fact that our nearest NHS Cardiac unit is 15 miles away, thankyou Mr Blair. A thirty mile round trip every day has placed a strain on all of us, not least my 70 year old step mum.
I've got my Dad to thank for my love of football (following him round every season. In 1952-'53 season he was on the books at Derby County, a knee injury never saw him take it up further). I've got him to thank for my love of music, my first musical memory is listening to the first Beatles album with him.
Meeting up with Beebsy & co on Saturday was a great distraction, thanks.
Sorry to ramble, but this is kind of cathartic, thanks guys.

Re: Goodbye.........
i send my most sincere sympathies.
my dad's birthday was two days ago, october 6th, and whenever that day rolls around, i spend all my time telling stories about my dad to everyone within earshot. like yers, mine turned me onto so much cool music, sniff. he also taught me how to fish, shoot poll, and tell gawdawful pun jokes.
i was lucky to have him.
i wish you peaceful thoughts and happy memories celebrated.

My sympathy to yourself and your family, Matt.
