I remember when he did a turn on BBC TVs Mastermind, (although I'm darned if I can remember his specialist subject.)

I wonder if he's been on a couple of times. I thought I remember him doing a Twentieth Century Russian painter but here he is doing The Prisoner

Must have been on three times then because I remember him doing Steely Dan. He told me his strategy with the painter was to pick something obscure that there wouldn’t be much source material to base questions on and then read all he could about it just before the recording.

Bloody hell - that's shocking news

I never met him but always found him to be very engaging and amusing on the boards

Sad sad news

His last post on 'It was Fifty Years ago' in January

Yes, like me he was a massive Audience fan. We used talk about them a lot

Very disappointed not to see Audience's 'The House On The Hill' mentioned.

RIP Scally

Damn, very sad to hear this. Didn't know him well, but he seemed like a good guy. Otherwise can just repeat what others have said. No fun losing one of your own, and we've lost a few at this point. :(

Really sad about this. The aliases and humor he brought helped me through some dark times. I’m so sorry to hear this.

Fuck

As we grow older, losing people we know and like gets more frequent.

Another great guy gone, I really appreciated Scally (and his aliases)

Terrible news. We lost an intelligent, good and original human being in Scally.

Very sad to hear this, a very funny and smart guy, you'd want him on your team in a pub quiz. His aliases were always a hoot too and a fellow Liverpool fan to boot. I remember tuning in to his stints on Mastermind.

We had similar musical tastes too so I'll play a few favourites of his in his memory.

RIP Scally

That's terribly sad news. A funny and clever guy who very much carved his own niche in the early days of this board. RIP Mike.

He was a top notch human being. His quizzes were the highlight of my day so many days. On Facebook he was supportive kind and always compassionate. I never met him but I miss him already.
