What's your favorite Kubrick?

Postby GoogaMooga » 23 May 2024, 14:31

***WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE KUBRICK***

Critics argue that LOLITA is one of Kubrick's most misunderstood and underrated works. Stylistically it marks the turning point from naturalism to the surrealism of Kubrick’s later films.

There was a "remake" of sorts in 1997, but although it was more faithful to the text of the novel, I still think Adrian Lyne can just fuck off. Tellingly, it has not been released on home video or television in the United States since 2003. I wonder why?

Dr. Strangelove by a country mile.
I've fallen asleep several times while watching 2001, so I can't judge that one.
There's a big difference between kneeling down and bending over

The Killing, I prefer my films taut and lean.
I do still love The Shining though.

Is that meant to be a rhetorical question?
If not, it's obviously the subject matter.

Rhetorical question. It's all just for fun.
