Where have you been C?

We talked about this sometime ago, brilliant series.

In fairness I think it was a thread within a thread, Chris might air some light.

Honestly can't remember whether I've mentioned it, as I've never actually seen any episodes. HOWEVER our son absolutely loves it. Always been meaning to give it a go, but something always seems to turn up. MY god, we've got Sky, Netflix, Paramount+, Prime, Apple and Disney, although the last three are generously shared thanks to son. In return he's got Sky Go and, of course, Netflix has to be non sharing. So much to watch, so much to watch (We've got half a dozen Walter Presents to catch up on, as well)

I think you will really like Slow Horses Chris, Gary Oldman is superb in it. You need to get through the first episode though before things begin to happen.

Never seen the show, but I did get one of the books as a random birthday present last year (my mum volunteers in the local Book Cycle), and I was really quite surprised at how good it was. Took a while to get into, because it was a fairly recent one in the series and has a cast of about 100 characters, but it was really funny and sharp, and very well written.
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

Great show, as has been mentioned Gary Oldman is fantastic as the legendary but sleazy, down and out Jackson Lamb, who's slovenly exterior hides a mind as sharp as a tack. Not to mention Kristen Thomas who is great as the cold as ice deputy head of MI5 and my fave Saskia Reeves as Standish.Brilliant.

Hmmm, but it's still one of the best shows on TV.

Now what about True Detective on NOW TV?

Just starting season 2, this is one of te best series in years, and there is some strong competition for that

Absolutely cracking stuff

Found it quite disappointing. Better than Season 2, but there seemed to be times when they were making it up as they went along

Agree, it seemed a little far fetched at times but it all came together to make some kind of sense in the end. I enjoyed the enigmatic aspect of it and thought the girl/woman that acted Navarro was pretty intriguing.

I've read all of the books so far, except for the novellas, two of which are due to arrive today.
I'm a huge fan of them but I don't have an Apple TV subscription, so I haven't seen the TV version. I might take the 1 week free trial and binge the lot.

The quality of the writing and plotting doesn't drop off over the 8 books so there's no reason why the TV series should diminish in quality. I'm really looking forward to seeing it when I can.
Bugger off.

Go back and start at the beginning! They're all good and the story arcs running through the books add a lot.
