Ted Lasso/Shrill/Mare of Easttown

Postby Minnie the Minx » 25 Sep 2021, 17:06

All three did well at the Emmys and all three are fucking fantastic. I can't believe there has been no thread about any of them! I thought you fuckers were all watching the telly all the fucking time?

I think other than Schitt's Creek, these are the things I have enjoyed more than anything this year.

What I love about Ted is that it is impossibly 'feelgood' while somehow managing to not be sentimental.
It makes me want to be a better person.

I've not watched the other two
And I really disliked Schitt's Creek.

I've just started watching Ted Lasso and enjoying it so far.
Never seen Shrill but thought Mare of Easttown was super telly.
Give a shit or be a shit.

We loved Mare of Easttown, my US based sister-in-law is raving about Ted Lasso so no doubt we'll visit, and Shrill is a new name to me, I'll investigate...

Ted Lasso is far better than it has any right to be. One toe in sentimentality but never steps over the line into mawkishness. Fantastic performances and, especially, great writing that assumes the audience aren't all idiots. Haven't seen the other programmes mentioned.

Ted Lasso was excellent.

I watched both series (22 episodes) in four days.

The Christmas episode and Coach Beard's bender were the only two weaker episodes

Football is Life

[and I can't stand football soccer]

I enjoyed Mare of Easttown but can't remember it now.

We'll give Shrill a go

Thanks for heads up
