IMPORTANT - user passwords.

Postby JQW » 13 Feb 2011, 20:04

One user has recently reported that they received a message that they'd recently had three failed login attempts using their ID.

This is usually due to a spambot attempting to login to an account by trying to guess a password.

Therefore can you please ensure that your password isn't easily guessable. Guessable passwords include the username itself, and simple ones such as '12345', 'qwerty' or 'password'.

I suggest you use a strong password - ideally one that contains a mixture of letters, numbers and/or punctuation characters. Also try to change it regularly.

I'll be making changes to the user registration system to force all new passwords to contain a mixture of letters and numbers.

Crikey. That's my bank and credit card passwords rumbled!
One night, an evil spirit held me down
I could not make one single sound
Jah told me, 'Son, use the word'
And now I'm as free as a bird

As you probably know, I usually log in as Hungry Joe. For some reason I can't get logged on.
Just on the off chance that there was a problem with my password, I tried to get another password but got a password activation email but no password.
Help gratefully appreciated,
Joe.

Could some of you more technical types have a looksie at my password and suggest ways I might render it more secure:

Username: LMG

Password: donkeys_knob_end

donkeys_knob_end69, perhaps?
