Gerard Houllier RIP

Postby Scally Mcgrew » 14 Dec 2020, 15:53

Farewell to one of our great managers, the man who dragged Liverpool into the 21st century. His trophy haul was pretty good, and he brought in and brought on some great players.

Having worked as a teacher in Liverpool in the late 60s, he developed a love for the city and the team, one which didn't seem to leave him.

RIP Gerard, thanks for the good times.

Sad to hear of this. He gave Liverpool fans some happy memories with a clutch of trophies to end a drought. The mini treble was the highlight of course with menorable late win against Arsenal in the FA Cup and an unforgettable 5-4 UEFA cup final win to wrap it up. As well as the trophies he also achieved one of Liverpool's better premier league finishes as runners up to Arsenal in 2002.

He came across as a thoroughly decent man too

RIP.

Tim Cahill tweeted a great eulogy yesterday, calling Houllier a legend & mentor. Nice words.
