Ruined by the live track!

Whatever were they thinking!

I went straight to the live track.

It's not so bad - a memento from the days when an album was all about 'showing what you can do'.

Now here's a thing: despite the band releasing copious live albums, 'Where Were You Tomorrow' never appears again.

Perhaps they felt that they had taken the tune as far as it was ever going to go, on their second album.

Exactly. It never appeared on a studio album either.

I haven't played it in decades

Wonder why?

[I feel the same about Fandango! by ZZ Top - the live tracks are just not representative]

Ha, I played a couple of tracks from that album on the journey home tonight! ‘Tis indeed, a top album.

I enjoyed these 2 albums today. Possibly the 1st time I’ve played them (not certain) but shall certainly be playing them again.

Also played these today.... my favourite Hawkwind album, and the new one which sounded somewhat different to their usual sound to my ears - in fact I found it reminiscent of Porcupine Tree in places. :o (Different vocalist?)

Following the magnificence of Argus, this was a poor return, had they run out of material? Fortunately There's The Rub came next.

Spot on

...and then the one that followed the wonderful There's the Rub - Locked In was even weaker!

Possibly the most inconsistent band of all time

Got all the albums - love them all but a 4CD comp. is just great sometimes.

Yes, I know what you mean

I have most of their albums but I have to be in the mood

I always think I should enjoy them more than I actually do.

Flesh & Blood and Avalon are the ones I play most

Whereas, I'm a "first three" man. The bookend boys! Hold on, what's that sound? No worries, it's just "Manifesto" being thrown into the waste disposal

I just can’t get on with Ferry’s voice.

Similar tone to David Sylvian who I also struggle with.

I'm fine with Ferry's voice, but Sylvain sounds like a second rate impersonator. Always felt that Sylvain was all style and no substance, whether solo or with Japan

Madness - although I have to admit Manifesto came as a bit of a shock at the time of release but I’ve grown to love it as well as FaB and Avalon. Like C. I probably play the later ones the most, Avalon is a work of art IMO. Still love the first five as well though. Great band.
