To be honest, Fotheringay were ok, but compared to Fairport and Pentangle, just not up to par. Better than Steeleye Span, though. Too traditional for me

Pretty decent Lou Reed album. Never understand the swooning love for Berlin.

At the time of release I commented that they sound a mix of Fairport Convention and Led Zep.

I liked the singer - haven't pursued them but will go back and listen again now you've prompted the memory.

As mentioned above, the cover is truly awful but the notion of a Fairport/Zep mixture sounds intriguing and my sort of thing, I’ll check them out.

Have you heard Wolf People Lord R? They are a mix of Fairport/Wishbone Ash/Zep.

I have played Ruins 3 times and Fain just the once.

Can’t find any comments I made on here but I think I quite liked them.

Will go and load a couple onto my Spotify rotation.

Don’t forget Steeple Lord. Ruins is their most out there album, the most jagged, if that’s the correct word to describe the album. All four of their albums are very good, I really like them, the only contemporary band that have really done much for me. Others I would include to a slightly lesser extent would be Temples, Wooden Shjips, The War on Drugs and Tame Impala. Quite like Wolf Alice as well.

Good album, think my favourite is probably Rock or Machine or even the double live.

Broad Church - probably more famous for turning down the offer from jimmy Page to join the New Yardbirds/Led Zep. If he had done so would Led Zep have become the force it became - almost sure that it wouldn't have? Saw him live once pretty good too.

Not his best album but it's okay.

You know Rob - I have never knowingly heard anything by Terry Reid

True

Think you’d like River and the first two, which can be found here.

He certainly had a great voice probably as good as, if not better than, Marriott or Rodgers. He is one of those that just seemed to miss out - unsympathetic management, poor timing, tried to go it alone at the wrong time, choice of wrong material, not able to write enough of his own material etc.

Haven't heard this for quite a while, wasn't impressed when it first came out - well I was a big Stones' fan and the British Blues boom had started, wouldn't have done to like a Beatles' record now would it? It left all competition far behind.

The most progressive record in popular music? Quite probably.

Turning down Zeppelin may not have been his finest decision, but that was his choice. Plant must have been happy

Again, streets ahead of the opposition at the time of release - interesting version.
