Ringo Starr - Look up

Postby Walk In My Shadow » 10 Jan 2025, 18:16

New album looks like one for the few Country lovers on here.

Produced and co-written with T-Bone Burnett.

Who would've thought?

Worth a punt?

See above. Unless you're a Beatles completist, I don't know who'd consider buying it. Even our resident Beatles afficionado, Rob, may decline. ...but who knows? We await comment in the near future

Not me, neither Ringo or George solo did much for me and John for that matter, post Imagine.

Ditto

The only solo album I have is Lennon’s Ono band - the one with him leaning up against the tree like Neil Young - I can’t recall the title.

Ringo is talentless- he can’t write, he can’t sing (he’s no Lee Jackson) and he is one of the most overrated tubs players alongside Keith Moon

:D

Moon was thrash and all show.

Exciting to watch but fairly basic and no great talent

Peter Baker played tubs on Hawkwind's Levitation album and he really notches up the album incredibly with his tubs

Imagine The Who with a decent drummer and I am not talking 'technique' a la Bruford or Collins

Moon would never jam with other bands - that says it all he was limited to Who stuff

That doesn't make a great drummer - far from it

Listen to the way Peter drives this along:

Moon couldn't get close

If we're using Hawkwind as a yardstick for musical talent, change "AGREEMENT" Saturday to "    "

Strawbs, Tull, Convention, Yes, and from the list, obviously, Television. Genesis, wrong era. A couple more I'd tolerate, but not rate essential

Point 1: I’ve acknowledged that he was exciting to watch, but dare I say, so was I

Point 2: is that a jam….?

As you were
