A tremendous tabla player - one of the greatest
Probably best known for his work with Shakti and John McLaughlin a well as extensive work with violinist L Shankar and the joint venture album Planet Drum with The Deads' Mickey Hart
Check this one out - Karuna Supreme with the jazz saxophonist John Handy and the great Ali Akbar Khan on sarod - with Zakir doing his bit!
