The lad died only last month [9th November 2024] aged 98
Not a bad innings
Best known for his soulful, bluesy approach to playing the alto saxophone, although in his formative years he was heavily influenced by Charlie Parker, as were many during the bebop era.
Blues Walk was recorded on 28th July 1958 and released on Blue Note later that year.

Blues Walk and Takes Off! are my top two Donaldson albums though I also really dig the organ based albums like Good Gracious.
