The Dark Star I know best.
The best ever? No.
The definitive? No.
But the very first. In many ways the benchmark.

Agreed on all points ( which are, of course, well made)

Phil was possibly my favourite of the band. Outspoken, intelligent, sensitive.
Have we seen the documentary on the Rex Foundation, which gave Dead money to neglected modern classical composers?

Have we seen the documentary on the Lumen foundation, which gave Dead money to neglected modern classical composers?
Haven't really read that much about the personalities of the band - or, if I have, it didn't stick. Don't know much about their characters.
Not heard of the Lumen Foundation doc, let alone seen it.

If you have a favourite Dark Star, the first question asked is 'better than on Live/Dead?'
Which says it all, really.

Dark Star - might not be the best, still magical!
St Stephen - did he doubt or did he try? I have no idea what this song is about. Enjoy the vibe, and happy to let the words wash over.

I got the name wrong.
It is The Rex Foundation.
Arena documentary circa 1993.

For yonks I was a 'first LP only' devotee of this set.
Now I love it all.

Still don't think I've seen it. Just find some Youtube clips about it, but so far not the doc.
