It was 1973 and on one of many trips to London (nightboat Ostend-Dover, train to London arriving early morning).
Virgin Record shop in Oxford Street above the shoe store.
My first purchase there that day was Kevin Coyne's Marjorie Razorblade. Double LP, double whammy.
Got Tubular Bells from there as well.
Dunno why I suddenly remember this.
What about you?

Yes, I used to frequent the same record shop from 1970.
The waterbeds, pungent smell of dope and headphones
Richard Branson personally sold me a copy of Family’s A Song for Me
Great memories

Think I might have gone there once but didn't often go to London to buy records. My memory of it is that it was pretty messy but that might have been somewhere else. I remember the old HMV shop in Oxford Street being messy.
Usually bought my records from WH Smiths in Bromley, they had a great dedicated record section upstairs and the chap/manager that ran it was a really nice bloke and seemed to know his stuff. Often used to go in and listen to new records to see if I would like them - remember listening booths?
