Can't believe it has escaped me so far.

I'm astonished by how many artists and albums you're already familiar with - there just isn't time for it all!

Indeed.

But I have had several Jackie McLean patches where I feverishly sought out his stuff.

Pre Spotify, admittedly.

His Prestige albums were one of my first jazz loves, and I've still not really heard his work from the 70s and later.

Roy Haynes On tubs- the lad plays on many fine albums by the likes of Rollins, Monk, Dolphy and Milt

.

And with Coltrane.

He stepped up when Elvin Jones was 'indisposed'

In the classic quartet.

I have 3 or 4 Jackie albums

Inta Somethin’ with Kenny Dorham and Bluesnik with Freddie Hubbard come immediately to mind

It was very close between Swing, Swang, Swingin' and this album once I'd decided on a Jackie album for this listen.

It’s always a difficult decision isn’t it!

I’m going to post the next album almost immediately

Just in case I change my mind. AGAIN!!

I recall a parody of the book called The Profit.

One bit went like this;

'Master, tell us - what is Fate?'

'You speak of that which moves across nations and the world itself. Although we may curse it at times, without it our lives would be bereft of much that we have, and value, and need to survive'.

'So that is Fate, Master?'

'FATE? I thought you said FREIGHT!'
