Me too. Lucky enough to have seen Milt Jackson at my first jazz concert, an afternoon & evening festival held in what had been the backstage area of the Reading Festival on the Monday. Glorious sunny day, he perfectly captured the moment for me. A personal Jazz on a Summer's Day!

“Esoteric” a very appropriate title

Written by Moncur, the trombonist

Interesting

And robust

To Marilyn, her family and friends.

*chink*

Indeed

Roy Haynes On tubs- the lad plays on many fine albums by the likes of Rollins, Monk, Dolphy and Milt

.

And with Coltrane.

He stepped up when Elvin Jones was 'indisposed'

In the classic quartet.

Very much a Grachan Moncur album - he wrote three of the four songs, and his playing is very accurate and pithy.

Onto Kahlil the Prophet - McLean's only composition on the album, and the most upbeat.

I'm astonished by how many artists and albums you're already familiar with - there just isn't time for it all!

Qobuz have this in Hi Res

Crystal and over 60 years old!!!

Indeed.

But I have had several Jackie McLean patches where I feverishly sought out his stuff.

Pre Spotify, admittedly.
