Alcohol

Postby Rorschach » 23 May 2024, 15:53

Another theme for a playlist but this one is, obviously, somewhat bigger.
The greatest alcohol song of all time is Alcohell, by me and Cheepniz but that's not on Spotify. However, I will be including Nervous Norvus's Transfusion, Whiter Shade of Pale (yes, it is about alcohol), Tubthumping, Whiskey in the Jar and Tequila.

What are your favourite booze songs?

Can't find it rightaway, mind.

These immediately came to mind

ZZ Top - Beer Drinkers & Hell Raisers

Wishbone Ash - Lady Whiskey

Paice, Ashton & Lord - I'm Gonna Stop Drinking

Ironic when one notes it’s Tony Ashton singing…

Anyway, three corkers [groan]

This is what's in the playlist so far, before i add any of your suggestions. Although, if you click on it in a bit, it'll have (some of) those suggestions!

Legendary Pink Dots - Splash

Some of the greatest lyrics ever, too. "Stinking rich and sinking pitchers full of Slivovitz" is a hell of a line.
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

You're not my old friend Billy, whom I haven't seen since about 1988, are you? He's the only other person I've met who liked the Legendary Pink Dots. He gave me a cassette of some of their stuff. Bloody awful racket.

I quite like this though.
