Am enjoying the alt. take of Dance Cadaverous, though it isn't essential to the album experience.

Fab album, many thanks for your company.

My guess is 'Not to the full extent'

Imagine most great artists don't realise the full extent of their impact.

Miles was the exception!

Mingus too - vague recollections of his autobiography read many years ago.

I think perhaps what happened sound-wise is I got an off board DAC to process all raw digital input.

This eliminated all harsh sound issues at a stroke.

Before that I was relying on the internal capacity of CD player, laptop, DVD player, etc.

These were frustratingly variable and at times quite poor.

Great album. The MVP on this one is Herb.

I love Miles's refusal to come on as the opening act for a certain sixties underground star who thrived in the seventies. This was at the Fillmore West, Bill Graham told Miles it was disrespectful to the musician to refuse to let him headline. Miles responded by referring to his rival as a 'no-playing motherfucker' who played the same set each night from rote without inspiration.

I won't shame him, Miles was being rather cruel.

Fabulous album.

A real treat.

To absent friends. All the Blue Note heroes now departed.

I think that no playing mofo was Leon Russell.

Nope.

If you think Leon ever played a set by rote that resembled another evening you need to listen to his live albums again.
