Harold Budd
It occurred to me this morning that I might be the only Harold Budd fan around these parts.
Unique some may say.
Now, I’m not talking about lightweights here that might have the odd collaboration with the likes of Eno et alia, but proper solo albums.
So, out of interest is there anybody else that would class themselves as a serious Budd fan?

No C, you are not alone for I too, am a Harold Budd fan.
I haven’t heard all his albums by any means. For a start I avoid his collaborations with Robin Guthrie like the plague. He can also be rather bland on occasions. But when he's on form he's fantastic;
Abandoned Cities
Perhaps
Pavillion of Dreams
The two Eno collaborations.
All robust in my opinion.

I know Budd by name only. But I do listen to Erik Satie. I got rid of all my classical music, save for a few favorites. Satie was one those that I kept. "Furniture music" I haven't heard before. I've always known it as "wallpaper music". Same difference.

Furniture music, or in French musique d’ameublement, is background music originally played by live performers. The term was coined by Erik Satie in 1917

Why is that being obtuse?
You asked me a question, I gave you an answer, or was your question really a rhetorical question?
If so, you must have assumed that I was aware of the answer to your question which I wasn’t.

Re: Am I alone…..?
Since absolutely no one asked ...
My go to Erik Satie recordings are those by Reinbert de Leeuw entitled 'Early Piano Works' ... these caused a storm of controversy, (well, more like a light shower of raised eyebrows ... this is proto ambient music after all!) due to the slower tempo the pieces are played at. So Gymnopedies is a whopping 2 mins longer than most recordings. I love it ... but then again I like Harold's 'As Long As I Can Hold My Breath' ... all 76 minutes of it!

You are a learned lad!
The trouble with Gymnopedies is it is often played too fast. Satie intended it much slower than many recordings but 'they' want to please their impatient audiences
Long As I Can Hold My Breath is a corker!
The man was a genius
Incidentally, my working class grandmother was playing Satie on her gramaphone 80 odd years ago...!
