Vinyl for Sale

Postby Lord Rother » 28 Jan 2024, 18:19

Well, as I said a few days ago, we will be looking to downsize in the next few months and I have retrieved from the loft my old vinyl records. I don’t see me ever playing them again (they’ve been untouched for the best part of 30 years).

Suggestion was made that there might be interest from BCB collectors, so, rather than trying elsewhere, I am happy to make them available on here first.

Now look, I am completely out of touch with value, and at this stage I do not intend doing the necessary research to find out. Some will be pretty much valueless I’m sure (Captain and Tenille, anyone? that was my Mrs....) and the condition of covers are variable (mainly decent, some excellent). I will assume they all play ok, but I dunno, could be some that are dodgy.

All I will say is that if there are any dodgy ones that anyone did purchase from me, from whatever price agreed, I would suitably recompense.

I will list them out over time, in batches if of interest.

(BTW, 1st box I tried to bring down from the loft, I unwisely twisted my back while lifting (bloody sloping roof!) and did my back in. Ouch!)

Anyway, here goes:

JJ Cale - Troubador
Barclay James Harvest - Berlin (A Concert For The People)
Black Sabbath - Mob Rule
Black Sabbath - Sabbath Bloody Sabbath (gatefold)
Black Sabbath - Paranoid (gatefold)
Chris De Burgh - At The End Of A Perfect Day

Carole King - Tapestry
Was Not Was - (Return to The Valley Of) Out Come The Freaks 12” single
John Lennon - Imagine (LP)
Manfred Mann’s Earth Band - Angel Station

Michael Jackson - Thriller (gatefold)
Jam - Sound Affects
Michael Jackson - Off The Wall (gatefold)
Michael Jackson - The Best Of (1975)
Elton John - Jump Up (gatefold)
Tony Orlando & Dawn - To Be With You :?

A mixed bunch I think you might agree. Anyway, there’s loads more, but I’ll stop at this point - if these really aren’t of any interest, no worries, but let me know if it’s worthwhile me listing the rest.

Or if any Qs as to which release / label etc., just ask.

As you suggested a few days ago, the ones I would be interested in are the ones I've already got, like many of us I would guess.

However one thing you might find interesting is to do with the labels of the Sabbath albums. Do the albums have the Vertigo swirl labels and the swirl inner bag? If so, and they are in decent condition, you might find them to be worth a bob or two, in fact quite a few quid.

If you get no joy here Lord I'm sure you would at a local record fair if there are any near you, depending on condition though, if you want to get rid of them fairly quickly and if the price is right.

Lamb would be of interest, if its in good/very good condition
Also depending on year of release, aka original pressing

Didn't spot anything that I want that I don't already have, but delighted to see Red Guitar's Good Technology listed. Played that a lot back in the day. Good luck selling them.

It’s in good nick, but will have a look at pressing / release info and let you know. I bought it a few years after original release so I doubt it is what you are looking for.

It is on my gym play list so I probably listen to it on a weekly basis.

Strange the ones that stick with you and the ones that don't.

I'd say over 90% of my music listening is in the gym or out running now and I have playlists for that
