Here Comes the Night

Postby GoogaMooga » 21 Jan 2024, 10:18

The extended disco remake of the Beach Boys' "Here Comes the Night" is the one I always skip on the "L.A. (Light Album)". It sticks out like a sore thumb, really out of character for the band. Did they survive it? Well, yes, but they ruined a perfectly fine album with this dog.

I like me some disco, but not from The Beach Boys. Eleven minutes of this crap, no way. It was Bruce's baby all the way, abetted by Curt Boettcher, a top producer in his own right. Al Jardine hated it. The fans hated it. But 1979 was disco time, so many bands got on that bandwagon.
