I was going to say - Cans and Brahms does take the album in a different direction after the stunning opening track.

Howe was never more paint-strippingly blistering as on South Side of the Sky. A personal favourite, and somehow in keeping with the Roger Deanery that was just starting....
It takes all sorts.

Evening Chris - welcome

Alf- I always think ricks contribution is a bit below par and hasn’t had enough thought into it and sometimes sounds a bit sloppy. Sounds a bit like a protest I think but I don’t know

Wakeman adds much to ever tying he is involved in

Even his bit with Cat Stevens

A fantastic player

Ninety percent certain he'd agree - fairly sure he's cited Cans & Brahms as the worst/most embarrassing thing he's ever recorded.

I have often thought of this album as some of the greatest tracks Yes every made accompanied by a load of b-sides (not particularly BAD b-sides).

Like those albums labels put out in the US from The Jam and Soft Cell and The Clash in 1979-84 because there was no market for non-LP singles in the US then.

They were what they were.

Just as this is what it is. An uneven album.
