I’m going to see Los Lobos Friday/Saturday at the Fillmore in San Francisco. Their set lists for the Fillmore are always fun and well chosen. Staying in town of course. There’s a sake’ tasting Saturday afternoon I’d like to attend. Rain is predicted so that will add some fun dodging rain drops.

Re: return of the live gigs
No pics but just wanted to say how great Los Lobos was BOTH nights at the Fillmore last weekend. I’ve seen them many times in many places but the Fillmore shows are always special. Only two repeats between the two nights, Volver, Volver and one of their early ones which I forgot. Some bay area guy who owns Jerry Garcia’s “Gator” Stratocaster loaned it to David Hidalgo and he used it a lot both nights. It seemed to inspire him a little. The surprise was when they played La Bomba on Saturday they played ot at half speed. It was a fantastic arrangement and nice to give it a twist. Friday had a lot of old (50s/60s) soul and rock song covers, Neil’s Cinnamon Girl and a cool Kiko. Saturday was more psychedelic with a ripping version of Mas Y Mas with David on the Gator guitar. Dave Alvin and his fab drummer Lisa P. came out and played a few tunes with a version of Marie, Marie with Hidalgo on vocals instead of Alvin. I still think they are one of the best bands in the U.S. It’s been true for decades and this being their 50th anniversary, it’s still true.
It’s probably the last time I go to shows two nights in a row at the Fillmore. All that standing (and dancing) was a bit much this year.

I would LOVE to see Los Lobos but it’s never going to happen.

I have a friend who lives in Newcastle ((not Paul) that comes to California every year to see them at the Fillmore when they play there. They have missed a few years due to covid so this was a return to tradition. Last year they played in Sacramento at a theater downtown and Richard came out for that too. This week the band is playing the Whiskey A Go Go and their old high school. Either one of those would be cool to attend.

Gutted to miss The Unthanks in Edinburgh on Saturday. Particularly as Kathryn Williams was supporting.

Saw the Musical Box play the Selling England by the Pound tour. No pIctures.
The key to Super's Ready is three 12 strings.
Bought a last minute Tool ticket on stub hub for cheap in nose bleeds and used ticketmaster empty seats to move up to good seats.
Very impressed with Danny Carey drumming.
Amazing videos.
Sort of how I feel about the world right now.
