Peter Hook & The Light

Postby mudshark » 27 Dec 2021, 22:42

Do any of you know about this band?
A concert has been announced for September 2nd next year. They perform the 2 Joy Division studio albums in its entirety.
$100.00 for a front row seat on the balcony at the House of Blues, easily the best seats in the house. I assume they must have been touring this for a while. Or have they? If it's half decent I'll be there for sure!

Sorry, never heard of his new band, but Hooky has been in several since the acrimonious split from New Order. Since his bass was an integral sound to Joy Division and New Order, there will be some authenticity in the music. Difficulty will be with the vocalist....will it sound genuine or just an impressionist.

They've been going for years now, Hooky does the vocals. Unfortunately. I’ve never seen them live, but I've seen enough clips of them to know I'm not particularly interested.
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

I don't know they sound more like Joy Divison than New Order do these days, Hooks vocals are a rather low growly and gruff approximation of Curtis, but musically they sound pretty spot on to me.

Thanks! Ian would probably sound just like Peter, 40 years on. Pretty good rendition. Not brilliant but good enough for a quick trip to yesteryear with the wife

I recommend to go see him. He's a legend, band sounds fine and once you get used to a different singer - him - doing the vocals it's all very impressive. Mind: he and sumner tried out being lead singers in n.o. and hook had a very good track on movement. Plus: macca, burnel hook...he's amongst my favourite living bass players in pop.
