Deke's guitar style was so recognisable

Coupled with Micky - a force to be reckoned with

[When Chris/Lmg last saw them Martin was there - thankfully and was able to lift the underlining sadness (from the fans) to Micky's serious illness and health)

Sadly he went soonafter but what a legacy he left!

We love you Micky!!

Nope. His first volume of the Man saga, Rhinos, Winos, and Lunatics: The Legend of Man contains an account of how they won over Bill Graham once they invited John Cipollina to join, and '(Bill Graham) provided oceans of booze and we partied furiously, ar hyd y nos*'

*Welsh for 'all through the night'

i love that, ar hyd y nos

Iceberg and Kamikaze were released on a remastered twofer

A bit steep new but there is a 'very good' second-hand version for about a fiver inc p&p which is excellent

There are a couple of DVDs included with recent Man releases - Rockpalast and Live At The Marquee. Deke has an electric keyboard setup on stage, and plays some ballads at the keyboard, and in one version of C'mon, he starts on guitar, moves to keys, and finishes the song on guitar.

A formidable guitarist, an expressive keyboard player and an engaging and underrated writer. And not exactly a failure with the ladies throughout his life either, according to his memoirs.

Bastard.

Although in Deke's often hilarious telling, American groupies often mistook him for Ian Hunter. After some years he met the Hoople man, and was able to ascertain that Ian Hunter had never ever benefited from confusion in the other direction.
