Phil Lynott: Songs for While I'm Away

Postby J » 04 Dec 2021, 13:58

Tonight on BBC2 at 10pm

"Documentary on the life and music of Phil Lynott, telling the story of how a working-class black boy from 1950's Dublin became Ireland's greatest rock star"
(90 minutes)

Followed by "Sight and Sound in Concert: Thin Lizzy" - recorded in 1983 at the Regal Theatre, Hitchin (35mins)

(These programmes are apparently preceded by some live snooker and the schedule warns that "subsequent programmes may run late or change".
Let's hope that the whole evening isn't a load of balls...)
oh the sun is shining
and I'm on that road

I sat chatting to Phil Lynott for about 20 minutes at a gig at The London Lyceum, Strand

Black Sabbath, Jethro Tull and Ten Years After - ten shillings [10/-] or 50p in new money just before decimalisation in November 1970

He told me he was a big Tull fan

[as you were]

Very good, watched today. His wife and daughters are interviewed, nothing from Brian's Robertson or Downey. Liked the earlier folky tracks they played, Dublin sounded great, another reminder to dig deeper back in their catalogue. A good 90mins, well worth a watch.
